Jamie’s Skyline View!
Have had the pleasure of visiting Jamie’s West Loop condo a few times (including a fun joint birthday celebration with Nancy, another Taurus!) and taking in the incredible views of the city from her balcony (more pics coming in the July Highlights post.) My kind of town!
June 19 – Grant Park Music Festival with PK & Sheila
We were the only ones willing to brave the cold for one of the first concerts of the season. Glad PK convinced me to lug the ‘good camera’ as we caught some great shots of the bean and other Millennium Park pieces!
May and June are a little light on the photos – I took a well-deserved break from the work and focused on catching up with friends, sharing wine from the collection we brought back from Napa, and visiting some old and new favorite restaurants around town! Work was also very busy in May and June and hasn’t slowed down until recently.
While Chicago has been our home since 1998 living in a new neighborhood does make you feel like a visitor! It’s been cool to check out a new area and to appreciate the virtues of fast transportation on the CTA red line. In my 16 years living here I’ve always been closer to numerous bus lines and proudly called myself a ‘bus girl’. Now I’m getting around town a lot faster! I was bummed to not be able to secure a limited fitness club membership to my beloved FFC, but I regularly 10,000 steps or more by doing as much walking as possible (you’ll see more of this in the July posting!)
Early in the month I got to celebrate my birthday and Nancy’s (a fun tradition!) with Jamie, Gina, and Cathy over at Jamie’s amazing pad – it was great to check out the view while sipping vino and enjoying yummy cupcakes! Dave and I went to Sapori Trattoria (one of our favorites) on my actual birthday, and the celebration continued over at Nico Osteria (delicious, but overpriced and tiny portions and some eventful happenings with nearby smokers) with Dave and Paul. Other dinners include Revolucion in Lakeview with Moira and Dave F and and Lou Malnatis with PK and Sheila!
In mid May part of the possee and I got caught up over dinner at Mario’s Table right up the street from me (great tip from Paul C!) and Lisa, Rolo, and I got to check out the BYOB Angry Crab up north – messy yummy shellfish fun! Be prepared to wait for a table!
I traveled to Phoenix for a few days for work in mid May and enjoyed catching up with an old Andersen Consulting/Accenture friend Jill who I worked with on my very first project in Wellesley, MA many years ago! I look forward to seeing her again when Dave and I spend a good chunk of time out there this winter!
Memorial Weekend was great – we kicked off the weekend with a fun get-together at PK and Sheila’s and were joined by a few of their neighbors (Dave found a brother from a different mother I think!) who were tons of fun and Quinn for Dante’s Pizza and lots of wine! Dave and I trained it out to Long Grove for Tammy and Rob’s Memorial Day BBQ and had a great time visiting with them and other old friends and meeting some new ones!
In late June we checked out Sink – Swim with PK, Sheila, Moira, and Dave F in Logan Square – it was interesting to eat my dinner before the rest of the group got served since they didn’t have their timing down …ah 🙂 We had a fun get-together at PK and Sheila’s home afterwards (with more wine of course!) At the end of the month Dave and I wished Peggy and Matt a fond farewell as they move to Arkansas for Peggy’s promotion at Walmart. One of the most fun parties we’ve been to in awhile – that tends to happen when there’s great food, fun people, and a few musicians including Matt & Sleazy – how can you go wrong?!
Stay tuned for our July update before we head out to Santa Fe!
